Lynne Breaux Named Food Service Leader
of the Year

Monthly (FSM) enters 2010 having completed its eighth year of service to the
foodservice community. We are ready to embark with boundless enthusiasm on a
continuing reporting and editorial journey with volume nine this month. Since
2007, FSM has renewed its commitment to excellence in reporting about the
foodservice industry of the Mid-Atlantic by honoring the leaders who make a
difference in our hospitality world.
Today, as we work through the ravages of a recession that has behaved more like a depression … tough times call for extraordinary leaders. Lynne Breaux, president of the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) is that person, that very special leader. When I talked to last year’s winner Gus DiMillo he said, “Lynne Breaux has not only brought style and grace to RAMW and the RAMMYS, but a true loyalty and passion for the industry encompassing all members.” Let’s step back in time to set the scene that leads us to 2010. Lynne Breaux, like FSM, has completed her eighth year of service as the head of RAMW. Breaux arrived in Washington in 1984 from New Orleans … and continued a career in hotel catering with The Ritz-Carlton Fairfax Hotel. In 1988 she moved out on her own with Tunnicliff’s Tavern on Capitol Hill. Before her appointment as executive director of RAMW in October 2001, Breaux had served on the Association board since 1992.
