The award is given to a member of the community whose dedication and leadership have contributed to the success of Washington’s vibrant restaurant industry. Babe Ruth, Tiger Woods, and Steve Jobs are titans in sports and business who are in classes by themselves. This year’s honoree, Dimitri P. Mallios, a partner at Mallios & O’Brien, is the titan of Washington’s restaurant industry representation; he is the acknowledged dean of Alcoholic Beverage Control attorneys in the Metropolitan area and the consummate deal maker. Mr. Mallios, born into a Greek restaurant family and a native of the District of Columbia, received his undergraduate degree from George Washington University. After service in the U. S. Army, Mr. Mallios attended law school again at George Washington University. For forty plus years he has sustained an active practice representing restaurateurs before the various local Alcoholic Beverage Control Boards as well as negotiating well over a thousand deals on behalf of local, regional, and national restaurant operators, chains and celebrity chefs. The “art of the deal” in the legal community can be ego driven and often turn contentious, Dimitri Mallios has always been able to put that aside and get the deal done. Past honorees of this prestigious Award include Robert Egger founder of DC Central Kitchen, the late internationally recognized restaurateur Jean-Louis Palladin, John Latham, the owner of the Clyde’s Restaurant Group, Paul Cohn, Sr. Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Capital Restaurant Concepts, and former Washington Post restaurant critic Phyllis Richman. The RAMMYS honor the best of the industry and is attended by restaurateurs, foodservice purveyors and foodies alike. In addition to the Duke Zeibert award, RAMMYS are awarded to the Best New Restaurant, Fine Dining Restaurant, Casual Dining Restaurant, Chef and Rising Culinary Star, to name just a few. Ticket and sponsorship information are available by contacting RAMW at 202-331-5990 or by visiting www.ramw.org . Established in 1920, the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington has more than 700 members and is the voice of establishments ranging from casual eateries to internationally acclaimed fine dining restaurants. ### |
