Name and Position:
David Perry, server at RIS since 2009

How did you get started in the business? What was your first job in the industry and what did you learn from it?
I stared as a busboy in a Radisson Hotel in Wisconsin. I learned that it makes your job much easier if you treat your fellow employees with respect, no matter what position they work.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
Ready to retire. Seriously, I’m sure I’ll still be waiting tables, it’s the only job I’ve had and I do enjoy it.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Why do you love working in restaurants?
The ever changing nature of it, no two shifts are ever the same. Always new customers and new challenges.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
I’ve always been interested in architecture, so an architect or learning about historic buildings.

What is your favorite ingredient?
Sriracha.

What insider foodie tip do you have for diners?
Relax and have a good time and be nice to your server.

You’re hosting a dream dinner party. What three people would be at your table?
My mom, my dad and my husband.

It’s the last meal of your life  - what’s on your plate?
A big juicy steak, loaded baked potato and strawberry shortcake with extra whipped cream.

What are your pet peeves?
Not cleaning up after yourself and not putting things back where they belong.
