Richard Sandoval Restaurants To Celebrate the 2014 FIFA World Cup

Soccer fans take note, this June and July Richard Sandoval’s popular Washington restaurants Masa 14, El Centro D.F. on 14th Street and in Georgetown, Ambar and Zengo will celebrate the 2014 FIFA World Cup with festive food and drink specials. Each of the participating restaurants will offer Caipirinha Tradicional, Caipiroska Tradicional, Corona and Corona Light, house red and white wine and margaritas for $5 each. Additionally, Masa 14 and Ambar will offer food specials in addition to their regular a la carte lunch, dinner and happy hour menus for those dining at the bar during the televised matches, June 12 to July 13.

Masa 14 will open their doors early to offer lunch service with five $5 small plates from the restaurant’s new summer menu. The $5 small plates will be available exclusively at the 14-seat rooftop bar/lounge. Dishes not to be missed include Salmon Sliders with lettuce, tomato and wasabi mayo; Tuna Machos with cotija cheese, chives and chipotle aioli; Mini Pork Carnita Fajitas with red peppers, onions and tortillas; Crispy Wings with spicy mango sauce, as well as Smoked Brisket Tacos with avocado salsa, Oaxaca cheese and cilantro. Masa 14 is equipped with three TVs located at the 74-seat first floor bar, and will be bringing in a projector so fans can watch the matches on the restaurant’s second floor roof deck.

Both locations will be serving up their authentic Mexican comfort fare for soccer fans to enjoy during the month-long tournament. Fans can stop by either location during lunch or dinner service to watch the soccer matches on the restaurant’s three TVs. 

Zengo

Located in bustling Chinatown, Zengo will be featuring $5 drink specials to complement its Latin-Asian inspired menu. Fans can stop by during lunch or dinner service to watch the soccer matches on the restaurant’s three TVs. 

Ambar

On Capitol Hill, Ambar, the nation’s capital’s first Balkan restaurant, will offer $5 drink specials, as well as their signature Balkan Burger paired with Dos Equis for $10 during the month-long tournament. The Balkan Burger is made from a combination of pork and beef and is served with cucumber yogurt, urnebes and cabbage slaw. Additionally, Ambar will be bringing in a projector for fans to watch the matches on the big screen. The food and drink specials will be available during all games shown at the restaurant throughout the month.
