WASHINGTON, DC RESTAURANT WEEK RETURNS

(Washington, DC)… Nearly 200 restaurants across the metropolitan area are now taking reservations for Washington, DC Restaurant Week, which returns for its winter edition February 16-22, 2009. The bi-annual promotion features three-course, fixed-price lunch and dinner menus at the region’s top tables, priced at $20.09 (lunch) and $35.09 (dinner). The official Restaurant Week website, restaurantweekdc.org, was launched yesterday.

“People look forward to Restaurant Week because it’s a chance to check out what’s new on the region’s restaurant scene or to revisit a popular favorite,” added Lynne Breaux, president, Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington. “They can enjoy great meals, good company and an excellent value.”

“Sources like the New York Times and kayak.com have named DC one of this year’s top travel destinations, and our restaurant scene is one of the reasons,” said Bill Hanbury, president & CEO, Destination DC.  “We’re glad to showcase this aspect of our city to locals and visitors in such a budget-friendly way.”

Diners can choose from newly-opened hotspots like Adour at the St. Regis or Art and Soul at The Liaison Capitol Hill, plus traditional favorites such as 1789, Bombay Club and Sushi-Ko. Other participants include 2008 RAMMY Award winners Equinox, voted Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year; The Oceanaire Seafood Room, voted Power Spot of the Year; Poste Brasserie, voted Upscale Casual Restaurant of the Year; and The Monocle, named the “Voter’s Favorite.”

Washington, DC Restaurant Week is co-produced by Destination DC and Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington. Visit restaurantweekdc.org for more information and to view a list of participating restaurants.
