Convention center Marriott Marquis gets major meeting bookings

It is still be more than a year from opening, but the Marriott Marquis at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center has already been booking event and hotel room space into 2015.
The sales team is "on track" with bookings, said Dan Nadeau, who started as the hotel's general manager last month.
"I'm feeling very good about the booking pace and capacity at this point," he said.
The 1,175-room hotel is expected to be completed in May 2014, and all projections suggest it is on schedule, Nadeau added.
