It's Good to be Belgian

July 15, 2016 to July 21, 2016

Seventh Annual Belgian Restaurant Week in the Nation's Capital

July 15-21, 2016

Belgian Restaurant Week is back and better than ever this July. Coming off serious domination on the Eurocup field, the Belgians are doing what they do best: drinking Belgian beer, cooking delicious waffles and frîtes -- and partying!

All week long, the top Belgian toques in town will unite in honoring their heritage with special menus, parties and dinners showcasing Belgian culture and cuisine, culminating in the 185th annual celebration of Belgian National Day on Thursday, July 21.

The Belgian-influenced restaurants participating in this year's week-long culinary and cultural affair are: Brasserie Beck, Mussel Bar & Grille by Robert Wiedmaier, Belga Café, BToo, Haute Saison Wafel Bar & Catering, and The Sovereign.  Every day, they'll be making the most of Belgium's signature culinary elements, from chocolate to waffles, and from moules frîtes to beer.  Beyond their individual daily Belgian Restaurant Week specials, all the restaurants will band together for the following collective events celebrating their Belgian national pride -- and extremely good taste:

Saturday, July 16, 11 am to 6 pm

Storey Park, 1005 First Street N.E., Washington, D.C.

Tickets: $21

Who will win the crowd and wow the judges? Some of the best chefs in Washington, D.C. will flaunt their Belgian prowess in the highly anticipated, hotly contested Mussel Throw Down. Each chef will mussel his way to the top, preparing unique variations in this mollusk-madness. Shells will be torn open and meat ripped from its safe haven, separating the champs from the chumps.  At a safe viewing distance, guests may indulge in the succulent mussels and traditional frîtes accompaniment, savor light and airy waffles, and drink beer from the Motherland provided by Stella Artois. Tickets for event are $21 and can be purchased at and also available at the door the day of the event.

BToo, 1324 14th Street N.W., Washington, D.C.
