Kathy Hollinger Named New President of Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington

November 8, 2012

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington, DC (November 9, 2012) - Former director of DC Motion Picture and TV Development Kathy Hollinger has accepted the position as the new president of Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW). Hollinger, who assumes the presidency on December 15, 2012, succeeds Lynne Breaux, who announced in July that she would not be renewing her contract.

“We are excited by the prospects of having Kathy serve as President of RAMW,” said RAMW Chairman Greg Casten. “Lynne leaves behind big shoes to fill but we are confident in Kathy’s ability to direct the Association into the future. Her diverse skill set and past accomplishments, combined with her strong relationships with state, city and local government officials, make her an excellent candidate for the position and will be vital in continuing Lynne’s and the Board’s vision to raise the profile of restaurants and the hospitality industry in the DC Metropolitan Area.”

As Agency Director and Film Commissioner of MPTD under Mayor Fenty, Hollinger grew the volume of film activity in the District by 15%. She also created and executed integration of film permitting into an in-house MPTD ‘one stop shop’ to streamline the public space occupancy permitting process to more effectively meet the needs of the film industry. Most recently, Hollinger founded and managed Storyboard, LLC, a DC-based strategic communications agency focused on helping private and public sector clients enhance visibility.

“This is an exciting opportunity to represent a vibrant and growing industry in a world-class city and region that I love. I am looking forward to building on the tremendous momentum created to further elevate our great restaurants while representing the best interests of RAMW,” said Hollinger.

Hollinger will be responsible for leading RAMW and for continuing to unite, represent and promote Metropolitan Washington’s restaurant and hospitality industry. Hollinger holds a Master of Arts in Public Communication and Public Policy from George Mason University and a Bachelor of Arts from American University. Past boards, committee appointments and community activities include The DC Chamber of Commerce, Hoop Dreams Scholarship Fund and the Capital Breast Care Center. In 2008, Hollinger was recognized as one of the “Most Influential Minorities in Cable” in a roundup of the most diverse power brokers and inspirational leaders in the communications industry.
