Business leaders often complain that D.C., between its tax and regulatory burdens, is among the least business-friendly jurisdictions in the country. Reforming the city's bureaucracy is a top priority, and Mayor Vincent Gray's pledge to get that done was partly responsible for his support from much of the business community during the 2010 campaign.

Gray has named nearly 30 private and public sector representatives to his regulatory reform task force, a panel established to create the "most business-friendly economy in the nation." No meetings have been scheduled yet.
