SNALLYGASTER RETURNS TO THE NATION’S CAPITAL ON OCTOBER 13, 2018

July 17, 2018

The Mid-Atlantic’s Largest + Best Beer Festival, A Fundraiser for Arcadia Center For Sustainable Food & Agriculture, Relocates To The Heart of Downtown D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC – Snallygaster will make its triumphant return on October 13, 2018, bringing no fewer than 400 unique craft beers and ciders from around the globe to the heart of Downtown D.C. at 6th Street & Pennsylvania Avenue NW. Neighborhood Restaurant Group Beer Director/Partner, Greg Engert, selected the new, larger venue to better accommodate Snallygaster’s massive selection of the rarest and most exceptional craft beers, and also to make the seventh edition of his annual beastly beer fest the very best yet.

“With the Capitol building as the backdrop, our new home at 6th Street & Pennsylvania Avenue allows us to expand the footprint of Snallygaster and provide more points of entry to the event than ever before, allowing for quicker access to all of the delicious offerings,” says Greg Engert. Adding, “the new location is not only more centrally located within the District, but it’ll also provide more seating, shaded areas, and restrooms for maximum comfort – and in one of the most beautiful areas of the city, to boot.”

Engert curates each and every selection, bringing the same approach he applies daily to his lists at Churchkey, Birch & Barley, Bluejacket, Owen’s Ordinary, Rustico, The Sovereign, and more. Festival goers can expect an unbelievable array of small batch, highly sought-after brews on draft from the finest American and international producers, as well as a host of cask ales and gravity-kegs of Franconian lager – all set amidst the backdrop of local food trucks and two stages of live music. Check out 2017’s beer list for an idea of what 2018 has in store.

To ensure that more guests have greater access to the rarest beers available during Snallygaster 2018, we will be serving the most limited selections in smaller, 4 oz. tasting pours this year. Festival attendees can expect to taste 350+ unique craft beers from more than 100 brewers, including some exciting, new brewers that have never poured at Snallygaster before.

As with years prior, all ticket sales will benefit Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food & Agriculture, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a more equitable and sustainable local food system in the Washington, D.C. area. The brainchild of Neighborhood Restaurant Group Founder Michael Babin, Arcadia has a production and demonstration farm, a program to train military veterans to be farmers, field trips and farm camp for school children, and a Mobile Market program that sells affordable, convenient high-quality food in low-income, low-food access neighborhoods. Snallygaster is the nonprofit’s largest annual fundraising event.

General Admission ($40 per person; includes admission plus 30 food & drink tickets) and VIP ($65 per person; includes early admission for 1.5 hours of exclusive access, plus 30 food & drink tickets) packages with special pricing are available for pre-order at SnallygasterDC.com on Thursday, May 31st. On October 13th, $15 admission is available at the door. Once inside, Snallybucks are available for $1 per ticket. Beers are available in a range of pour sizes, including smaller tasting portions (4 oz. or 7 oz.), as well as full pours (14 oz.). Full beers (14 oz.) will be priced from 6-9 tickets and tasting portions (7 oz. and 4 oz. pours) will cost 4-8 tickets (on average), tax included. Food is priced individually depending on the item. The first 500 ticket purchasers (General Admission and VIP) will receive an exclusive, limited edition Snallygaster t-shirt, which will not be available for sale at the festival itself.

For those traveling from out of town, Neighborhood Restaurant Group has partnered with the Grand Hyatt Washington (located in CityCenter, a 15 minute walk to the festival site) for a reduced rate available to Snallygaster ticket-holders. Unfortunately, due to safety concerns at the new location, we are unable to offer Snallygaster mugs with ticket purchases in 2018.
