Annual “Ga May” Pancreatic Cancer Research Fundraiser Returns To The DMV In May 2016

April 28, 2016

Washington, DC (April 26, 2016) — Max Kuller, Executive Wine Director for Proof, Estadio and Doi Moi, is spearheading Ga May, a month-long celebration of Gamay with a multifaceted purpose. Now in its second year, Kuller hopes to once again bring attention to one of the most delicious, yet underrated grape varietals, while raising money for pancreatic cancer research throughout the month of May.

Ga May began in 2015 as a tribute to Mark Kuller, Max’s father and a celebrated tax attorney turned restaurateur who passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2014. Max created Ga May to celebrate his father’s love of wine by introducing others to a gorgeous grape often overlooked, or like his father’s cancer, discovered much too late.

Ga May proceeds are donated to the Lustgarten Foundation to Cure Pancreatic Cancer, which ensures that 100% of every donation goes directly toward pancreatic cancer research. In 2015, with the help of 25 DMV-based restaurants, bars, wineries and distributors, Ga May raised over $15,000 for this worthy cause.

So far in 2016, more than 15 restaurants, wine retailers, distributors and vintners in the DMV and one in Miami, Florida, are planning to participate in Ga May beginning on May 1st.  Here is a current list of Ga May participants below:

Native to Beaujolais, France, Gamay makes a range of springtime-friendly, easy-drinking, fruity, yet often mineral-driven wines, which wow with their beautiful nature and tremendous value. It is Kuller’s hope that, each May, restaurateurs and members of the wine trade will team up to raise awareness of both Gamay's beautiful wines and pancreatic cancer's awful effects, hosting an array of Gamay-themed promotions at restaurants, bars and retail wine shops across the DC area and beyond.
