Coquito for Puerto Rico

The Daily Dish and The Dish & Dram present “Coquito for Puerto Rico,” a boozy Puerto Rican eggnog that will be served from December 1st through Three Kings Day (January 6).

Zena Polin, co-owner, spent eight years living and working in Puerto Rico. The holiday season reminds her of her eating and dining adventures on the “Island of Enchantment.” Coquito, a combination of cream of coconut, evaporated milk, condensed milk, vanilla, nutmeg and, of course, rum is a favorite holiday cocktail, often drank at friends’ homes when singing Christmas carols, known as "parrandas." The restaurants prefer Don Q rum, which has been made in Puerto Rico for 150 years. The cocktail is $10, and $1 of every cocktail sold will be donated to a fund to help Hurricane victims. Pictures are available on request and are also available on their Facebook pages. Pair the cocktail with traditional and modern latkes, including purple potato and sweet potato, topped with housemade apple chutney and horseradish crème ($8) at The Dish & Dram.

The Dish & Dram is located at 10301 Kensington Parkway, Kensington, MD. It is open Tues - Sat: 11:30am - 5:30pm lunch, 5:30pm - 9:30ish-pm for dinner; Sun: 10am - 3pm for brunch. Happy Hour is 3:30pm - 6:30pm Monday to Friday and 12pm to 6:30pm Saturday at the Cocktail Bar.
