May 30, 2014

Silver Spring restaurant and catering company, The Daily Dish, has been awarded the Maryland Chamber of Commerce’s Maryland Breakthrough Award, which honors Maryland businesses for breakthrough performance, innovation and growth. Chef/owner Jerry Hollinger and his business partner Zena Polin accepted the award at a ceremony on Thursday, May 29th at the Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, MD.

“As small business entrepreneurs, we are honored to have won the Maryland Business Breakthrough Award in the month of our five year anniversary,” restaurateur Polin said. We are pleased that almost all of our employees are from Maryland, many of whom have been with us since our early days when we had to count every napkin because 11 cents actually mattered. Five years later we have a successful restaurant and catering business, thanks to the support of our community who have consistently believed in us, in our food and in our philosophy.”  Polin went on to say that the restaurant has stuck to its belief in sourcing local, eating local and being local. “We are grateful to the team at the Greater Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce for their support and for helping to foster an environment that allows small businesses such as ours to succeed,”  she said.
