Brewery Undergoes Expansion Construction; Tasting Room to Close Starting May 18th

Washington, DC – May 8, 2014 – After growler hours on Saturday, May 17th, DC Brau plans to close its tasting room to the public. But never fear–it’s only temporary. The brewery is set to undergo a significant facelift to help the District’s first and only packaging brewery since the 1950s handle its growing production demands.

“Over the past several months, demand for our beer has grown exponentially. In order to keep up with this demand, we need to do some major upgrades around the brewery,” says DC Brau Brewing Company CEO & co-founder Brandon Skall. “During the construction, we feel it’s safer to reduce walk-in traffic at the brewery, so we have decided to close the tasting room to the public until after it’s complete.”

The expansion – which includes the installation of six new tanks – will increase the brewery’s production capability by nearly 50 percent. Skall estimates the process will take about six weeks, after which the tasting room will resume growler hours and tours for the public on Saturdays from 1 to 5pm. In the meantime, the brewery’s fans will still be able to enjoy DC Brau brews at their favorite bars, restaurants and retailers.

Located in Northeast Washington, DC, DC Brau Brewing Company was established in 2009 by co-founders Brandon Skall and Jeff Hancock. Both DC locals, the pair shares a passion for brewing, complimented by years of experience in beverage distribution. DC Brau’s signature brews include: The Public (Pale Ale), The Corruption (IPA), and The Citizen (Belgian style Ale), with seasonal and special brews available throughout the year.
