An International-Style Lager Brewed In Collaboration with Maketto

Washington, DC - January 2019 - Just in time for the Chinese New Year, DC Brau is expanding the distribution of its International-Style Lager, Tuk Tuk, throughout the District of Columbia. Brewed in collaboration with Maketto on H Street NE, the bright yellow pop art cans will now be available at restaurants and retailers through Premium Distributors.

“Tuk Tuk was inspired by one of our favorite Asian light beers to be an easy-drinking lager with a little hop flavor and lively carbonation,” says DC Brau’s Brewmaster Jeff Hancock. “It has a refreshingly light body that pairs perfectly with Asian cuisine.”

“My culinary vision is always to provide more access and flavors of the Asian experience to the Washington DC area. Being able to work with DC Brau in recreating the easy drinking styles of Cambodian beers and for Maketto to continue to represent our Cambodian roots has always been a goal of mine,” says Chef Erik Bruner-Yang of Maketto.

Tuk Tuk (4.5% ABV) is a rice lager, loosely inspired by Tiger Beer, Angkor Beer, and Taiwan Beer, that uses Tettnanger hops and a Bohemian Lager yeast. The colorful can was designed by Erik Bruner-Yang’s concept development company, Foreign National. Twelve-ounce cans are available for order through Premium Distributors in DC starting today.

Foreign National is a concept development group promoting the integration of food, drink, and art with the fundamental belief that all components create a strong, healthy, and viable community. Founded by Erik Bruner-Yang, the company’s vision is to embrace cultural evolution and drive social change with a team of open-minded and creative individuals.

When co-founders Brandon Skall and Jeff Hancock opened the doors to their brewery in 2011 on Bladensburg Road in NE Washington, DC Brau Brewing Company became the first packaging brewery inside the District of Columbia since 1956.
