Dirty Habit Introduces Weekly Live Music Series 'Green Room at Hotel Monaco' - Beginning 8/13

July 17, 2019

Penn Quarter Restaurant Gives Washingtonians a New Tuesday Habit with Local Music Performances, Global Cuisine and Handcrafted Cocktails

WASHINGTON, DC (July 17, 2019) – Dirty Habit, in collaboration with Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington DC is launching a first-of-its-kind public music performance series, “Green Room at Hotel Monaco,” every Tuesday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Starting Tuesday, August 13, Washingtonians are invited to relax after work in the deep-cushioned couches of the iconic hotel’s emerald green living room-style lobby. With musical performances from up-and-coming local artists ranging from contemporary jazz and Afrobeat repertoires to top-40 instrumental covers, guests will experience the art of sound while enjoying bites from Executive Chef Kyoo Eom and cocktails from Beverage Manager Drew Hairston. “Green Room at Hotel Monaco” will offer a new Tuesday habit in the National Historic Landmark that was the original 1839 General Post Office.

“We are grateful to be woven into the fabric of this vibrant community, showcasing local musicians and pioneering this exciting new series right here in D.C.’s Penn Quarter,” said Dirty Habit General Manager William Smith. “‘Green Room at Hotel Monaco’ allows us the chance to offer guests another space to partake in our food and drinks while enjoying great music.”

The “Green Room at Hotel Monaco” name is inspired by the boutique hotel’s bold green-hued lobby lounge, and also gives a nod to the preparatory space used by musicians before a show. The free weekly music series will serve as a stage for emerging artists. A changing roster of performers will play against the backdrop of the building’s rich history and elegant architecture, adorned with modern-day pizzazz, artful décor, and the alluring entrance to luxe restaurant and bar, Dirty Habit.

The first artist to play “Green Room at Hotel Monaco” will be Washington, D.C. native, bassist and composer Eliot Seppa and Friends. Recognized as one of six Artists in Residence at the Strathmore Music Center, Eliot discovered his love for music when he began playing upright bass at the age of nine and then the electric bass at 14. The Howard University graduate embraces rich harmonies, syncopated rhythms, and the organic interplay that exists between band members. Eliot will play with guest instrumentalists on Tuesday, August 13; Tuesday, August 20; and Tuesday, August 27.

The music series will continue into the late summer and fall with artist announcements pending. During each performance, the “Green Room at Hotel Monaco” menu will feature selections from Dirty Habit including tuna tataki ($17), American waygu tartare ($18), and the restaurant’s popular truffle fries ($13). The “Green Room at Hotel Monaco” bar menu will offer a seasonal selection of Dirty Habit’s handcrafted cocktails including the Rice ‘N RosesDH Old Fashioned and Negroni ($12-14). The wine list will rotate seasonally, with the current summer menu featuring a variety of such rosé wines as the Bueyes Extra Brut Rosé ($12 glass / $54 bottle), La Caravelle Brut Rosé ($98) and several still rosé wines from Château de Berne ($8 glass / $84 bottle).
