RAMW Education Foundation “Educated Eats” Honors Three Culinary Visionaries

The RAMW Education Foundation, Educated Eats, presented three honorees a Culinary Arts Visionary Award hosted by Mastro’s Steakhouse (600 13th Street NW). The Educated Eats Board of Directors created a Visionary Award to honor those whom have demonstrated dedication and leadership in culinary education in the Washington DC area’s hospitality industry. The co-host was Kaya Henderson, Chancellor of DC Public Schools. Kaya Henderson and Gregory Casten of Profish, LTD., presented each award.

Francois Dionot, founder of L’Acadamie de Cuisine, was honored for this commitment to building a top culinary school in the region, producing successful chefs and continuing the workforce in Washington, DC. Ben Hiatt, partner at The Optimum Group, was honored for his work in founding “Educated Eats” and continuing to assist restaurants in improving efficiency and profitability. Benjamin Velasquez, Executive Chef of Carlos Rosario International Charter School, was honored for his dedication in the immigrant population by investing in and supporting their journey to achieve the American Dream. 

Founded in 2004, RAMW’s Education Foundation, Educated Eats, advocates for the value of employment through the restaurant and foodservice industry and is committed to creating the next generation of culinary professionals. Educated Eats is committed to promoting the restaurant and foodservice industry as a career of unlimited opportunity. Proceeds of the 4 course dinner with wine pairings will be used to fund the 2017 Frans Hagen Scholarship.
