Fall is in full swing and the DC metropolitan region is decked out in autumnal shades of red, yellow, and orange, which turns thoughts to the upcoming holiday season and, for many of us, Thanksgiving planning including the big dinner and hosting family and friends over the holiday.
Thanksgiving – like perhaps no other time of year - is a showcase for those in the food service industry. Our work and our passion is front and center for this national celebration. Thanksgiving is about acknowledging our blessings and gathering with family and friends. Gratitude is the message and food is the vehicle for the festivities.
Many families will gather around their own tables to pass around plates of traditional foods and other recipes that have become a part of their families’ legacies. Others will mark the day seated in dining rooms of some of our area’s finest establishments. On Thanksgiving, restaurants have the opportunity to serve up a little nostalgia through traditional fare, as well as spark interest in new flavors to expand the holiday palate.
