Dining with the Stars

Marcel’s is the Top Restaurant in Washington, DC by Several Coveted Lists

The all-star team at Marcel’s, led by Executive Chef Robert Wiedmaier, has certainly been seeing stars recently, as they receive recognition and praise as one of the top restaurants in Washington, DC. Just this week, Zagat released “America’s Top Restaurants in 25 Cities,” with Marcel’s named #1 for the nation’s capital.  Ranked amongst such notable names from across the country as Le Bernardin with chef Eric Ripert in New York City, and Joël Rubuchon in Last Vegas, this newest ranking from Zagat places Marcel’s truly in a league of their own in DC.

Not new to Zagat’s high praises, including that “‘Master’ chef Robert Wiedmaier ‘orchestrates’ culinary ‘miracles’ at this West End Belgian-French ‘class’ act,” Marcel’s was also named the top restaurant for food in Zagat’s 2011 Washington DC/Baltimore Restaurant Survey and regularly tops many of their “best” lists.

Locally, Marcel’s has been garnering interest as well, recently being one of 25 restaurants from the District reviewed in Washington Post Food Critic Tom Sietsema’s 2011 Dining Guide.  Earning 3 Stars out of a maximum of 4, Sietsema applauded Marcel’s ability to match their superb service with the exquisite cuisine overseen by Wiedmaier and Chef de Cuisine Paul Stearman, for an experience that “pampers” guests quite like no other restaurant in the city.

Robert’s superior attention to detail does not end at Marcel’s. Brasserie Beck, Robert’s Belgian-style casual eatery, was named one of the “Best New Restaurants in America” in Esquire Magazine in 2007 by renowned critic John Mariani.  Four years later, Mariani still believes Brasserie Beck worthy of their “Best” title, and noted the eatery, known for their mussels and beer selection, for paving “the way for the now-trendy gastropub” in a 2011 Esquire article.

Marcel’s is located at 2401 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of Washington, DC. For reservations or to learn more, please call 202.296.1166 or visit www.marcelsdc.com.
