Training at RAMW

RAMW is your comprehensive training resource. We offer the required training for food, alcohol and allergen certifications, through the ServSafe® program, at our office and can arrange training at your location for 5 or more people. We also proctor exams for online recertification of your Food Manager license.
 
RAMW also offers online courses and workshops for preventing sexual harassment and discrimination at your workplace. The online course offers two levels of training, supervisor and employee, and our quarterly workshops are geared for management and owners.
 
Also available is in-person and online training that meets the Tipped Wage Workers Fairness Amendment Act (TWWF) requirements. The Tipped Wage Workers Fairness Amendment Act requires District employers who hire individuals earning tips as wages to inform their employees about their rights and benefits. The implementation of Initiative 82 does not affect this required law in place. The initial deadline to complete this training is August 31, 2023. Note: The ServSafe Sexual Harassment Prevention for Restaurants training is not currently certified by DC OHR as meeting the requirements for TWWF training.

ServSafe® FOOD SAFETY

The ServSafe® food safety program provides food safety training, exams and educational materials to foodservice managers. SERVSAFE ALLERGENS®

The ServSafe Allergens® online course drives home critical information your FOH and BOH employees and managers need in order to accommodate guests with food allergies respond to emergencies should they occur. The course covers such topics as identifying allergens, communication with the guest, preventing cross-contact, food labels and more.

PREVENTING SEXUAL HARASSMENT & DISCRIMINATION
Preventing sexual harassment and discrimination plays an important role in ensuring employees live up to the high standards of conduct in your restaurants. RAMW now offers workshops and online courses aimed at both managers and employees to help your staff navigate situations where harassment is present. Note: The ServSafe Sexual Harassment Prevention for Restaurants training does not meet the DC requirements for TWWFAA training. TWWF Anti-Harassment Sessions (Led by OHR Certified Trainers)
RAMW is happy to announce that we are able to offer sessions for $35 per person with a certified OHR trainer. Our in-person sessions are open to employees, managers, owners, and operators; virtual sessions are available to employees and owners/operators only per the requirements from DC OHR.

WORKSHOPS*
Sexual Harassment: In-person workshops intended for owners, operators and managers in the restaurant industry, who can then share information learned with staff. Topics covered during the workshop have included: Definitions of Gender-Based Violence, Nexus Between Gender-Based Violence & Workplace Violence, Impacts in the Restaurant Industry, Connections: Employee Safety & Economic Security, Myths and Facts: Workplace Perpetrators & Victims/Survivors, Respond Strategies, Legal Protections and Action, and Resource Referrals. 
  
Restaurant Marketing: Gain insight and tips from industry leaders in how to effectively market your restaurant using social media platforms, engaging with the media, taking stunning photos of your dishes using digital cameras or your mobile phone and more with RAMW’s Restaurant Marketing workshop series.

On-Premise Security: This workshop evolved out of needs expressed by restaurants and bars across the region, to address issues that arise when a large influx of visitors/tourists arrive for regional events, as well as heightened tensions and safety concerns throughout the region. Topics covered during the workshop has focused on de-escalating situations, sexual harassment, accelerated/violent behavior, active shooter scenarios, online harassment, and best practices from fellow restaurant owners and legal protections.
