RAMW Offers DCs First Restaurant Training and Certification Program, AllerTrain, for Food Allergies

WashingtonDC – April 4, 2012 – The Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW)is pleased to announce its partnership with Kitchens with Confidence , a servicecompany that assists the hospitality industry with the special needs of dinerswith food allergies or intolerances and gluten challenges. Through thepartnership, RAMW will offer a new training and certificationcourse—AllerTrain—designed by Kitchens with Confidence to certify restaurantstaff and keep diners safe.
 
RAMWwill host its first AllerTrain class on Monday, April 16th, from 2:00-3:30 p.m.at the RAMW office.

Everyday restaurants receive at least 2-3 requests regarding special needs as anestimated 12 million Americans suffer from food allergies. One in 133 diners(& growing) has Celiac disease.
 
Teachingrestaurant staff, both front- and back-of-the-house, about how to identifyallergy symptoms, and how to react in a food allergy-related emergency, canhelp save lives.
 
Beyondthe inaugural class, RAMW will host a live class once a month and will alsooffer online certification through AllerTrain’s webinar option at the samediscounted rate for members.
