Santa Fe Cafe in Rosslyn is closing

Rosslyn's Santa Fe Cafe is closing its doors after 24 years in business.

The restaurant is losing its lease, and couldn't afford the prospect of both increased rent and a relocation within its existing building, according to owner Kip Laramie. The building at 1500 Wilson Blvd. is being renovated by landlord Penzance, and the leases for existing tenants were to expire in November.

"I was under the impression they wanted me to stay, but I got the proposal and it was just nothing I could really live with at this point," he said. "I'm going to be 60 come March and I would have needed to move within the building and build an entirely new restaurant. At this point, if I want to retire at 65, I just don't think the numbers are there to make it work."
