Chef Dontay cooks from the heart and soul, a trait he developed at a young age while standing at his grandmother's and mother's side in the family kitchen. For him, this passion is reflected best in his dishes which showcase southern cuisine. He was born and raised in Washington, DC, and a graduate of DC Public Schools. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Food Service Management and an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts from Johnson & Wales University. He continued his education at the University of the District of Columbia earning his Master of Public Administration.

Chef Dontay has experience in directing both front-of-the-house and back-of-the-house operations. After working in the restaurant industry as a Chef and Front of the house manager he embarked on a new journey and joined a DC nonprofit, which supported vulnerable and underserved communities that experienced food hunger. Having now directed both in the restaurant industry and nonprofit industry Chef Dontay has decided to pursue his dream to open his own restaurant. Tricey's DC is DC's premier caterer for authentic southern cuisine with infusions of Caribbean and Asian flavors.
