Ordering Made Simple

The world’s largest beverage company literally banished an entire mode of communication from its corporation. In effect, Coca-Cola killed voicemail. Why? As Michael Shrage put it in the Harvard Business Review, “Be honest—you don’t really want to leave a 90-second message after the beep and you certainly don’t care to listen to one. You’ve got faster, better and friendlier ways to communicate.
You’re already using them.”

And yet, in the restaurant industry, one of the most important parts of the business—ordering supplies—is still conducted via something Shrage calls “as clunky and irrelevant as Microsoft DOS and carbon paper.” 

Enter DC-based startup Improvonia. Improvonia’s app automatically organizes orders online, allowing restaurants and suppliers to check in on them anytime, anywhere. It, gives restaurants the ability to place all their orders to all their suppliers from one place, saving lots of time for everyone involved. The success is in the simplicity, says Zvereff: “Hundreds of DC restaurants and suppliers are already using us, and we see new people ordering through the app everyday. It’s so easy. Once they see how simple online ordering is, they never want to leave or listen to a voicemail ever again.”
