James Beard House Hosts 2010 RAMMY Winners and Finalists
Highlights DC Dining Scene in National Spotlight
 

Twelve of DC’s top chefs and mixologists  took center stage on August 10th  preparing an exquisite “Best of DC” dinner at the James Beard House in New York City. The “Best of DC” dinner featured RAMMY nominees from the categories of Neighborhood Gathering Place, Chef of the Year, Beverage/Mixology Program, and Pastry Chef.

Over 75 guests joined RAMW at the James Beard House as DC’s unparalleled culinary talent showcased an amazing six-course dinner paired with wines including a Reisling and Shiraz from the Jim Barry Winery from Australia and a Chenin Blanc from the Bellingham Winery in South Africa.

The evening began with a reception featuring hors d’oeuvre by Kristin Hutter of Cork Market and Justin Bittner of Bar Pilar, both Neighborhood Gathering Place RAMMY finalists. Guests also enjoyed exceptional hand-crafted cocktails  from RAMMY Beverage/Mixology Program nominees Gina Chersevani of PS7’s Restaurant, Chantal Tseng of the Tabard Inn, Jon Arroyo of Founding Farmers and Todd Thrasher of Restaurant Eve and PX.

The six-course dinner included  cuisine from RAMMY Chef of the Year nominees Daniel Giusti of 1789, Bertrand Chemel of 2941, Haidar Karoum of Proof,  Vikram Sunderam of Rasika, and Scott Drewno of The Source by Wolfgang Puck. Entrée dishes (full menu listed below) highlighted the individual personality of each restaurant and ranged from the exceptional spiced, marinated eggplant dish from Chef Sunderam to a delicate steamed sea bass from RAMMY Best Chef winner Scott Drewno. The meal ended with a sweet dish of honey panna cotta from Chef Josh Short of Buzz Bakery.
