Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington Celebrates New MICHELIN Stars in Washington, D.C.

Washington, D.C. – The Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) proudly congratulates the outstanding restaurants in our region that have been recognized with MICHELIN stars in the latest edition of the prestigious MICHELIN Guide. This year’s awards continue to solidify Washington, D.C., as a globally celebrated dining destination, renowned for its innovation, diversity, and excellence in the culinary arts.

Unveiled on December 9, 2024, the 2024 MICHELIN Guide Washington, D.C., awarded one MICHELIN star to two new restaurants. Mita, a vegetarian Latin American restaurant in the Shaw neighborhood, with its creative and flavorful offerings. Omakase, located in the Barracks Row neighborhood, also received one star for its exceptional Japanese cuisine.

In addition to the MICHELIN stars, Washington, D.C. received its first MICHELIN Green Star, a new rating given to restaurants for sustainability.  This green star was awarded to Oyster Oyster, a vegan restaurant in Mt. Vernon Square.  

The latest MICHELIN Guide honors reflect the  talent, vision, and hard work of our local restaurateurs and chefs,” said Shawn Townsend, President and CEO of RAMW. “At RAMW, we are  committed to fostering the growth of our restaurant community and celebrating their achievements. These accolades not only bring well-deserved recognition to the individuals behind these  concepts, but also elevate the global reputation of Washington, D.C., as a top-tier dining destination.”

The 2024 MICHELIN Guide for Washington, D.C. now has 26 restaurants.   Restaurants that have maintained their stars include The Inn at Little Washington with three stars and a green star, Jônt and minibar with two stars.  One star restaurants maintaining their status include Albi, Bresca, Causa, Elcielo D.C., Fiola, Gravitas, Imperfecto: The Chef’s Table, Kinship, Little Pearl, Masseria, Métier, Pineapple and Pearls, Rania, Reverie, Rooster & Owl, Rose’s Luxury, Sushi Nakazawa, Tail Up Goat, The Dabney, and Xiquet.
