Yesterday, the Montgomery County Council passed legislation that provides $20 million in grants for businesses affected by the coronavirus outbreak.
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors is looking at establishing a Continuity Loan Fund which would aid small businesses facing economic injury and that are at-risk of closing. While this idea is still taking shape, it could provide capital to existing, viable small businesses and serve as a secondary loan to a SBA loan, or other lines of credit.
Currently the PPP loan is for an 8-week period sometime between Feb 15 and June 30. This means the latest the loan origination date can be is May 5th, which makes the loan period May 5th-June 30th.
Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser said anyone—regardless of immigration status—with COVID-19 symptoms (fever, cough, and shortness of breath) needs to call a health care provider and seek treatment.  First responders will not ask you about your immigration status. Those without a healthcare provider should call Mary’s Center at 844-796-2797.
This morning, Governor Larry Hogan issued an official “Stay-at-Home-Order” that goes into effect at 8pm tonight. Restaurants are exempt from this order as long as you are doing takeout and/or delivery.  Travel to and from exempted or essential businesses is allowed.
This afternoon, Governor Ralph Northam announced that Virginia issued an official “Stay-at-Home Order” that goes into effect immediately. Restaurants continue to be allowed to be open for take out and delivery as they are deemed essential. Virginia will continue to enforce the 10 or less rule, and those in violation could be subject to a class one misdemeanor.
