DC Paid Family Leave Employer Town Hall Forum

April 23, 2019 - 11:00am to 2:00pm

Is your business ready for Paid Family Leave? Come learn more about DC Paid Family Leave and what your business needs to know to prepare for this new program.

The Universal Paid Leave Amendment Act of 2016 provides up to eight weeks of parental leave for workers in DC to bond with a new child, six weeks of family leave to care for an ill family member with a serious health condition, and two weeks of medical leave to care for one’s own serious health condition.

Starting July 1, 2019, the District will collect taxes from private sector employers to fund the benefit. The DC Department of Employment Services (DOES) is hosting this PFL Employer Town Hall Forum to:

  • Introduce the Office of Paid Family Leave (OPFL)
  • Share the latest information about the PFL tax regulations to help employers prepare for the collection of the tax
  • Get your feedback and input about how OPFL can best support DC employers and workers

The town hall forum will focus on the PFL tax regulations and requirements DC employers will need to know to implement this program.
